SPECTRUM VOCALS
We are Spectrum Vocals. Spectrum was formed in the summer of 2016 in Raleigh, North Carolina. We are currently composed of 10 members, spanning all occupations and walks of life, joined together by a love of a cappella. Spectrum currently performs contemporary music, all in an exciting, voices-only setting.
ABOUT OUR MEMBERS
ALEX ALBERTI - TENORAlex Alberti is a high school music director, currently teaching band, theory, history, jazz, and psychology at Longleaf School of the Arts in Raleigh, North Carolina. Alex hails from Durham, NC, and got his start in a cappella in Appalachian State's Enharmonix. Currently, Alex is a student at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro, working to get his Master of Music in Music Education. Alex enjoys bad jokes, Diet Coke, and trying to figure out strangers' Myers-Briggs personality types.

FREDDY PERKINS - TENORA Durham native, Freddy’s first introduction to a cappella came during his time at Appalachian State, where he co-founded Enharmonix. He is a board-certified music therapist at the ART Counseling and Radical Healing, serving the LGBTQ* community and individuals with various mental health needs. Currently, Freddy second year Master’s of Music Therapy student at Slippery Rock University. Freddy enjoys watching reality television, social justice, and cuttin’ a fool in public.

LAUREN THOMASON - ALTOLauren Thomason is from Charlotte and has been singing misheard lyrics since she could speak. She is a licensed counselor providing early intervention and teacher coaching at a nonprofit preschool. Lauren enjoys spontaneous road trips, hiking, and encouraging Alex's bad antics when no one else will.

REBECCA SWOFFORD - SOPRANORebecca Swofford is from Durham, NC. She has been singing in a choir since the age of two. Music has always been a deeply important part of her life! Her introduction to a cappella was when she sang in Ear Candy at Appalachian State University. She now works a macro social worker doing prevention and training work at NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Rebecca enjoys dancing, working with power tools, and intersectional feminism.

ALEX DELANEY - BASSAlex Delaney was born in Radford, VA but raised in Jacksonville, NC. His love of music started at an early age when he joined the band. He continued playing trumpet and clarinet through college before finding his first a cappella family with the UNC Tarheel Voices. Post-college, Alex refined his voice over several years with Transit Vocal Band. Alex last worked in clinical research but is now working on his second degree in nursing. Alex likes speaking in strange voices, watching anime/cartoons, and shopping, even with no money.

JOE KIRLAUSKI - BASS/VPAlthough originally from New York, Joe Kirlauski grew up with Southern Class. Ever since joining show choir in elementary school, Joe has always had a deep love for music and singing. Joe currently works as a remote vehicle technician to pass the time and to fund his record buying habits. Joe likes disc golf, writing music, and beef jerky.

ABBY FOSTER - SopranoAbby Sabiston has been performing since she was 5 years old, and continues this passion by teaching theatre at Northwood High School in Pittsboro, N.C. Abby was a part of the a cappella group, Enharmonix, at Appalachian State University and loves that she gets to continue her love of singing surrounded by the people that makes her laugh the hardest. Abby enjoys giving belly rubs to her dog, Finley, spending time with her husband, and eating peppers, meat, and pie crust.

Nigel Carlton - BARITONE/VPNigel Carlton, from Elon, NC, went to undergrad at NC State University. He has been singing since around 8th grade or so (because his chorus teacher talked him into it). He was in the high school a cappella group, WAcappella and was in the collegiate group, Acappology. He is currently a second year Master's student at NCSU, getting a degree in Textile Engineering. He enjoys playing sports, acting like he know what's going on, and Hennessy.

KAYTELYN STORY - ALTOCurrently residing in Graham, North Carolina, Kaytelyn is a graduate of Appalachian State University. Kaytelyn studied communications with a concentration in Public Relations. Kaytelyn has been singing for as long as she can remember, and is currently a marketing manager for an industrial electrical company in Burlington. Kaytelyn enjoys laughing until she cries, quoting stand up comedy, and misunderstanding painfully simple phrases.

BROOKS JORDAN - BARITONEBrooks Jordan is from Raleigh, NC. He got his start in music through his high school choir at Leesville Road High school and continued singing in college at NC State with the Grains of Time. Now, Brooks lives in Durham, NC, where he works in the biopharma industry developing new medicines. Brooks loves video games, Diet Coke, and being loud in public places.
